SellMyBusiness FAQ's

SellMyBusiness.com provides a simple-to-use; single online market place for selling your business assets and obtaining professional service. However, as easy as we try to make our website to use, there will always be questions.
 

1. Do you earn a commission on my sale?

No we do not. We are not broker/agents and do not take a commission on any sale. Our purpose is to provide you with an opportunity to list and sell your business assets with no commission expense. However, we are also a complementary service to business and equipment brokers/agents. Many people need the assistance or comfort of working with a broker/agent expert for their transaction. In those cases, we provide an effective listing service to advertise your business assets with a global reach.
 

2. Can I list any type of business?

You may list any type of business as long as it is a legal enterprise within your country, you have clear title of ownership, and it meets our website’s Conditions of Use.
 

3. Can I list any item?

You may sell any item as long as it is has a legitimate business use, such as office equipment, computers, machinery, raw materials, excess inventory and transportation vehicles and meets our website’s Conditions of Use. 
 

4. Can I get my money back if my company or equipment doesn’t sell?

We are an online market place that provides sellers the opportunity to advertise their business assets. We do not control your pricing nor can we control the economic conditions in your region that can affect a sale. Therefore, we cannot offer any refunds if your business assets do not sell.

5. My item sold, now what do I do?

Congratulations on your success. Please log into your account and select the item that you wish to un-list by opening the Manage Your Listing section and deleting the item. All you need to do is click on the red “X” and the listing will be removed from the website.

6. My item hasn’t sold yet, but I want to extend my listing time. How do I do that without reentering all the information?

For convenience we automatically re-bill your credit card and extend your listing under the same billing option you originally created and posted your listing with until you un-list your business asset from our website and/or cancel your account. If you select our lifetime option, your listing will be placed on our website for a period of 2 years, and our normal rebilling policy will apply when your 2 year listing period has expired.

7. Can I change the description of the item I’ve listed?

Yes you can. Anytime before your listing time period has elapsed you can log into your account, select the item you wish to modify. All elements of your listing are shown. You may modify any of them. Once you have completed the changes, click on “Submit”.

8. Can I add features to my listing?

Yes, you may choose to enhance the visibility of your listing by selecting any or all of the following: 1). 10 picture slideshow; 2). video; 3). 3 virtual tours; 4). highlighted listing; 5). inclusion in our Spotlighted Section; and 6). Inclusion in our monthly E-Blast news letter.  You may choose to add these enhancements when you initially create your listing or when you are modify or change your listing. 

9. What is the Business Vault ®?

Business Vault® listings are SellMyBusiness.com’s premium way to sell your business assets online. Listings in our Business Vault® Confidential Listing Service are kept confidential.   The actual amount of confidentially is up to you. A Business Vault® listing starts at $499.95 for three months (The Business Vault does not offer a monthly option – Discounts are available for pre-buying longer blocks of listing time). You receive the following benefits by purchasing a Business Vault® Confidential Listing on Sellmybusiness.com:
  1. Private and confidential listing (the degree of confidentially is up to you)
  2. You are assigned a Sellmybusiness.com customer service agent to assist you with all aspects of managing your Business Vault® listing including setup and ongoing changes
  3. Potential buyers have to provide 3 professional references that Sellmybusiness.com’s staff interview before the potential buyer is given access to your listing and the ability to contact you.
  4. You can select the level of net worth that is required from a potential buyer so you are not contacted by people who are not qualified to purchase your business assets. 

10. I can’t find my listing.

There are a few reasons why you may not see your listing. No products are listed until a listing fee has been paid and verified. The process only takes a few moments. When it is completed and approved you will receive an email confirming your listing order with a link to sign into your account. Once you log-in to your account click on “My Account” and “Manage Your Listings”. You will see that you listing has been assigned a listing ID. You can simply locate your listing on our website by typing in the listing number into the “Search” window and clicking “Go”. If you did not receive a listing number and payment receipt two things may have occurred: 1) your payment was not approved (try listing and paying again, possibly with a different payment method), or; 2) you exited the listing payment processing step before payment was verified and accepted (try listing and paying again). If you tried locating your listing some of the search criteria such as “Type”, “Postal Code” or “State”, but couldn’t find it, you may need to continue to scroll through all listings (we have thousands) – yours may just not have appeared yet. If you tried locating your listing some of the search criteria such as “Type”, “Postal Code” or “State”, but couldn’t find it, you may have a typographical error in your data (you entered MI for Michigan when you meant to select MS for Mississippi).  Log into your account click on “My Account” and “Manage Your Listings”.  Select the listing you wish to verify and closely examine all information for correctness and completeness. Change anything that is incorrect.
 

11. How do I get in touch with the owners of the listing I am interested in?

Each listing provides a Contact Seller area for potential buyers to contact the owner or their representative.  If the listing is in our Business Vault® Confidential Listing Service you will have to qualify for entry into the Business Vault® prior to being able to contact the seller of the business asset listed. 

12. Can I list items no matter what country I am in?

Yes you may. SellMyBusiness.com lists items from all over the world. We will also be launching local language versions of our website in the future.
 

13. I need professional assistance or services. How does that work?

We offer a free service for buyers and sellers to connect with professional service providers. Visit the Professional Services page and select Start Here and select the professional service you need and select Submit. You are also able to access this area from our green tool bar. You will be e-mailed with a service provider for each specialty need you indicated. If we don’t currently have a service provider in your area for a particular specialty, there will be a notice telling you we need to find a service provider in your area for you.  We will get back in touch with you in 5 business days with a professional service provider meeting your request.

14. I am a professional service provider and would like to be added to your list. How do I do that?
